GRAND FORKS – A 64-year-old man from Nielsville, Minnesota, was found dead in a vehicle Friday, Nov. 6, west of that community, according to a news release issued by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. At about 7:30 p.m. Friday, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from an automatic 911-Crash-Detection at 36477 440th St. S.W. ADVERTISEMENT When first-responders arrived on the scene, they located the vehicle in a grove of trees, the Sheriff’s Office said. The sole occupant, Kevin Moen, was found inside the vehicle, but was unresponsive. First- responders attempted life-saving measures, but Moen was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s Office personnel surmised that the vehicle had been travelling west on 440th Street S.W. before leaving the roadway and crashing into the trees. According to the Sheriff's Office release, Moen was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Moen’s body was transported to the UND Forensic Pathology laboratory for further investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office release. Nielsville, a community of about 80 residents, is located 27 miles south of Crookston, Minnesota. The crash is under investigation, and no further information will be released at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement, which was issued to news media outlets Friday, Nov. 6.
